A Product Vision for Smart Living

A healthy home is a smart home

A healthy home is a smart home

The smart living market promises a lot but delivers a confusing array of products, platforms, and standards. E.ON Home wanted to find their place in this space, not by adding to the noise, but by bringing clarity. The concept of the Healthy Home gave them a simple, human idea to build around.

The Challenge

For most people, the smart home is still an abstract idea. The products exist, but the benefit often does not feel tangible enough to justify the complexity and cost. E.ON Home needed a platform concept that would feel relevant and meaningful to a broad audience, not just tech enthusiasts.

Approach

We grounded the project in research, speaking to people about how they experience their homes and what they actually worry about. Health, comfort, and energy costs came up again and again. The insight that a home should actively support your wellbeing became the foundation for the Healthy Home concept.

Don’t talk about the underlying technology but about the benefits in daily life

Design sprints were used to rapidly develop and test ideas, moving from research insights to tangible concepts quickly. The platform brings together curated products, services, and interfaces in a way that makes the smart home feel approachable and genuinely useful.

Result

The project resulted in a comprehensive playbook for market-specific implementation: a clear, well-illustrated vision for what the E.ON Home platform could be and how it could be rolled out across different European markets. It gave the team a compelling story to tell and a concrete product direction to work towards.
